Donna Loren / Press

“'These Are The Good Times' document a young talent’s creative fruits, and is a delight of a listen.”

“A must for aficionados of both the girl-group and SoCal pop sound of the sixties, These Are The Good Times will leave you scratching your head as to how these catchy and immaculately-produced songs, which oozed hit potential, didn’t earn Donna Loren a spot at the top of the Billboard charts. But with their release, the good times are finally here.”

“Loren had an impressive voice and the intelligence to know what to do with it; there's a strength and maturity in her performances on tunes like "A Woman in Love (With You)," "Hold Your Head High," and "Leave Him to Me" that outstrips a significant majority of her peers -- all the more impressive considering she was just 18 when most of this was recorded.”

"Donna Loren was the "Dr Pepper Girl" in the 60's and was in all those "Beach Party" movies with Annette and Frankie! She also was a regular on "Shindig"! Don't miss this interview!"

"She was the Dr. Pepper spokesperson from 1963 to 1968. She appeared numerous times on the TV show Shindig!. She appeared in the American International Pictures' Beach Party films. She toured with Dick Clark's Caravan Of Stars in the summer of 1964. She signed with Challenge Records and later Capitol Records. Donna Loren is her name and you just have to wonder if there's anything she hasn't done! We spoke with Donna recently about her career in music."

"The swinging '60s of Donna Loren" "Some pretty big stars had featured songs in the "beach party" movies of the 1960s: Stevie Wonder, Nancy Sinatra, Dorothy Lamour, Dick Dale and, of course, Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello." So how did Donna Loren — whose claim to fame then was as the spokesgirl for Dr. Pepper — land songs in "Beach Blanket Bingo," "Bikini Beach," "Pajama Party" and "Muscle Beach Party"? ““Donna Loren is alive and well and back in the studio again. Last year she returned with her first album of newly recorded material in decades. Love It Away combined eight original compositions with seven cover songs. The production is crisp and her vocals remain clear and strong as she has what best can be described as a pure pop voice. The packaging contains the lyrics to the songs which is always appreciated, plus there are some nice pictures included as well. The surprising aspect of the album is provided by Donna Loren, the songwriter. I had not thought of her in that context but the songs are melodic and contain some personal and introspective lyrics. Songs such as “Only Love,” “We Are Women,” “OK,” and the title track are all worth a listen. ”

“Review of Donna Does Elvis in Hawaii EP: "Donna Loren has always had just about a perfect pop voice and it remains intact on Donna Does Elvis in Hawaii. My only complaint is I wish she would have expanded it into a complete album, but since that did not happen we have to be content with this small slice of pop Elvis covers."”

“Donna Loren has been featured in the latest issue of MF Magazine! MF is a rad international, quarterly publication that blends the best in independent music, fashion, film and the arts in a revolutionary way. It's not what you typically see on your local newsstand. MF pushes the boundaries of the magazine industry by providing thought provoking interviews with equal presence to both the well known and lesser known names of the groundbreaking, independent thinkers who will shape our future.”

“Review of "Donna Does Elvis in Hawaii" EP: "A worthy ending to the EP is One Night. I was a little sceptical of this number, especially when you know the version of Elvis (and then I mean the raw version of the ’68 Comeback Special when he cried out all of his feelings). But the implementation of Donna is impressive!" She clearly puts a lot of feeling in the song and it shows off. If you’re looking for a swinging album, you better find something else. But when you’re planning a romantic evening with your loved-one, it’s the perfect sound."”

“Pop-culture icon Donna Loren is synonymous with the Swingin’ 60’s era of music, motion pictures, television and fashion. The one-and-only Dr. Pepper Girl starred in five Beach Party films (Muscle Beach Party, Bikini Beach, Pajama Party, Beach Blanket Bingo and Sergeant Dead Head), ABC’s "Shindig," "Batman" and "The Monkees." In 1965 Donna recorded "Beach Blanket Bingo" for Capitol Records, now a classic collectible LP and re-issued CD. As beautiful as ever and currently living in Hawaii, Donna has re-emerged with a new album, "Love It Away" which will have you "Shakin' All Over" (see video). We are honored that she is making a rare personal appearance singing and signing this month at "ROCK CON: Weekend of 100 Rock Stars" (www.NationalRockCon.com).”

“Donna Loren is a sixties girl that made appearances on all kinds of TV shows and movies. That work carried her a long way and now so many years later, her voice still resonates and touches those within earshot. Now in her early sixties living in Hawaii, she has embraced new technologies and decided to cut a new album titled Love It Away. The recording is a mixture of originals and carefully picked covers. Besides maintaining a commanding and beautiful vocal style she adds keyboards and percussion to the album. The main instrument is her voice, with a resounding sense of definition I might add. “This confessional album is reminiscent of great concept albums like Jackson Browne’s ‘The Pretender’ (her haunting interpretation of Browne's ‘Live Nude Cabaret’ done brilliantly here) or the heartbreaking sentiments present on Brian Wilson's masterwork ‘Pet Sounds’ from 1966, when Donna was winning our hearts singing on TV's best rock show, Shindig, playing Susie to the Joker on Batman, or singing in the Beach Party movies. Donna has opened her heart to us and shows her vulnerability as well as her strengths. Listen to her cover of Neil Young's ‘Old Man’ and her original compositions ‘Only Love’, ‘OK’ and the title track ‘Love It Away’. ”
