Don Jack
Don Jack: Broadcast, events and talent producer. Artist | Composer | Designer | Curator | Founder of IDEAS® born in Falkirk, Scotland. To label Don Jack merely as a composer is falling short of the mark. Writing his first song aged 6, he would go on to conduct the school orchestra only three years later, performing Albert Ketèlbey's famous: In A Persian Market, ensuring a National music award for his school - the first of many. Around that time, Don became a regular young performer on the UK music scene, as singer/guitarist in the band Floodlight along with school friends Ian (Jumbo) Huntly and the late, sadly missed Tommy Laird. Secondary School chums: Dougie Wilson and Kenny Duncan would join Don in forming the band: Blitz. During his art college years, as the drummer with the rock band: Marco Polo, he would become used to demands of larger venues. He enjoyed his first taste of fame, storming the Scottish music charts with Burt Bacharach's 'Please Stay' during a 3-year stint with the house band: Candy, resident at the famous Chequers nightclub. During this period Don would form a life-long bond with ace guitarist Jim Faichney. When keyboard player Kenny Duncan left the band, it was with the new line up (Don on keyboards, Douglas Gillespie on bass and Dave Plues on guitar) that Candy would enjoy international acclaim. Resident entertainers at The Gleneagles Hotel and La Manga Club they were among the UK's most sought-after society performers. On the Costa Cálida, they would often share the stage with old friends and fellow musicians Jim Faichney and George Graham, rubbing shoulders with well-known dignitaries and show-biz celebrities who were keen to welcome them to their fold.
