I will be performing LIVE with my new group Still Authors Friday June 22nd @ The Opera House. Here is all the info... Here we go with another installment of Streets of Sesame presented by Buddy Lewis Entertainment. This month we have a special line up of musical goodness planned for you all. Let us introduce you to the bands... FITNESS 12:40 - 1:40 http://www.facebook.com/fitnessdisco Songwriter and vocalist Sean Ban Beaton has helped shape these songs into something intangibly dynamic and provocative, communicating grand themes from a raw and personal point of view. Previous performance highlights include nearly 4 years as Eddie in the hit musical Mamma Mia, and working with indie favourites, the Hidden Cameras. Teamed with co-vocalist Nicki Ramjass, their call-and-answer antics add an element of raw spontaneity and performance art to the stage show. Drummer James Miller and bassist/guitarist Damon Shannan-Lovell fill out the rhythm section admirably with a high-energy intensity you would expect from a band called FITNESS. And with Sahra Ucar on keys, the whole machine runs like a well oiled stairmaster. SPECTRE HEARTS 11:45- 12:30 http://spectrehearts.bandcamp.com/ Four strangers from different walks of life making hits. Garage rock. A little dance punk. Occasionally acoustic. Mostly amazing. Spectre Hearts....so hot right now. Spectre Hearts. HIGH NOON HOWL 11:00 - 11:40 http://www.facebook.com/HighNoonHowls If you like music, we play it. High Noon Howls is the fossilized chrome-coated incest love child of sounds that prevail within the depths of mother earth's gut. Spawned from organic basement jam sessions, our sonic concoctions have begun to finally take shape. STILL AUTHORS 10:25 - 10:55 http://www.facebook.com/stillauthors STILL AUTHORS This brand new group formed by producer dFareham and singer/songwriter Alex Mei take you into a whole new world of music. ZONES 9:50 - 10:20 JAFFA CHARLES 9:15 - 9:45 http://www.reverbnation.com/jaffa1Dieufaite Charles aka JAFFA, was born March 3, 1977 in Gonaives outside the city called Newfoundland Department of Artibonite d `Haiti. In a country where music is omnipresent - merengue, compass, Zouk, Reggae, Roots music and carnival rara – JAFFA is shown a talent for singing at an early age. At << Eglise de Dieu Union Chrétienne>> where he spent much of his life learning many things especially music that he likes. he often participated in cultural activities of the youth of the church, very quickly, the heart of JAFFA looks for "Haitian Roots music" including the very energetic SEAL, Haitians or singers like Eddy Francis and Emeline Michel. He first learned to play guitar, flute and some piano, then chooses the acoustic guitar, which he considers to be his woman companion on stage. Encouraged by his family including his older brother Dieufort Sandra Whiteley and his wife (now become his manager), Jaffe has participated in various activities in the country, Please support local talent! We will also be accepting donations of NEW women's underwear for the "We Care With Underwear" Campaign, For the femininity and dignity of women and girls in crisis" To get involved contact: firstname.lastname@example.org Bands: Rodrigo Wilde (Toronto, ON) http://www.reverbnation.com/rodrigowilde Jaffa Charles (Port au Prince, Haiti) http://www.myspace.com/jaffabiz1 The Effens http://www.myspace.com/theeffens Dinosaur, Dinosaur http://www.myspace.com/ Doors @ 9pm $8 Cover (all proceeds will go towards the orphanage, Les Enfant Demunis in Haiti) $4 Beer Poor Boy Clothing will be donating half of all t- shirt sales to the orphanage. **A NOTE FROM Fareham. D*** Now that I have been to the orphanage and seen first hand what is in need and what could be done to improve the lives of these children, I have come up with a few things that I feel is the next step to rebuilding the orphanage and setting these kids up with a better future. 1. A drainage system needs to be built for the grounds. This will cost approximately $1500. 2. A proper school for the children needs to be built with all the necessary supplies for the teachers and the students which will cost $4000 for the building. 3. A solar energy system with converter. This will supply the orphanage with clean free renewable energy that will accommodate a lighting system and basic energy needs. 95% of Haiti is still without constant power. This will cost $1000 4. $2000 is needed to set the orphanage up with a chicken coup which will provide fresh eggs for them daily, a few goats to provide milk for cheese etc., and build a vegetable garden that will provide for the orphanage and the village. This will also include proper cooking supplies for the orphanage. I will be heading back to Haiti in May of 2011 to deliver and set up everything personally. 100% of all money raised goes directly to Haitian hands. We will be hiring local people to help with the construction and will be paying them a fair share wage of $8US an hour (not the $2US per DAY that working people earn). Also, all of the material (that is available in Haiti) will be bought locally. If you would like to help in any way, throwing an event to raise money, donating, or if you would like to come and visit the orphanage for yourself, please send me a message. Thank you!
