Defeat / Press

“Goodbye is an example why I feel that Defeat are true industrial magicians, its got the Defeat signature but its more perfected cultivated and complete. Goodbye is everything you would expect from an industrial track, this is a track you could imagine would have been penned by a master like the great Al Jourgensen himself. But the genius and mastery is clearly Defeat, Anthony has an immense ethereal growl that gives an appreciation to Goodbye.”

“There is still that expected and inescapable catchiness, each track whipping up vivacious energies and anthemic temptation but equally they devour the most imposing and darkest corners of emotion and life.”

“The band are reaching their potential and cranking out some great songs that will appeal to the current climate.”

"an accessible and danceable album with plenty of club and live potential."

“This album draws on the essences of electro industrial with an amazing array of synth and low whispered vocal that gives balance as well as depth to an intriguing and powerful album. It is finely tuned to give out rich textures of rhythms and compelling beats that scoop you into a world of unrestrained and powerful beauty. Each track is carved out to highlight a stunning array of mystical wonder. I have already listened to this album about 4 times now and each time there is always something new to discover as it ignites a certain passion inside me. Every time I see the name Steve Fearon who founded Static Distortion attached to anything, I know I am in for a good listen and this album is no exception to the rule. My only regret is that I have not been able to witness the band visually as yet anyway, and I am hoping in time that this goal will be achieved.”

" The eleven track album is immense, a sinister and sizzling beast which whilst thrilling and igniting thoughts and passion still provides evidence that there is plenty more still to be discovered within the band." " [Seek Help] does nothing but further impress as the likes of the toxic, lyrically and musically, Revenge, the brooding Tear Me Apart, and the insidious Wish You Dead, unleash their imaginative magnetic poison emotionally and excellence sonically. Though the latter pair do not quite rise to the heights set in place before them there is only the fullest satisfaction and hunger bred from their offerings whilst the outstanding Pedestal soon has the album touching the highest bar again. An industrial scourge honed into an immersive restraint of melodic and electro temptation, the track plays with passions and limbs like a satanic puppeteer, its control and insatiable fascination impossible to resist or not devour greedily."

“Outbursts! is an instant and undeniable proof that electro and industrial music in The UK is on a definite rise with bands like Defeat and others brought by Static Distortion Records as examples, leading the way with quality and inventive imagination. Defeat will become a major player in their genre, Outbursts! the evidence.”
