DBoi Visionz —
Derick “Dollaa” Johnson, professionally known as DBoi Visionz, was born in Ohio and raised in Decatur, Georgia. His story was shaped by two different worlds—two sides of the fence.
Growing up in a single-mother household, Derick was forced to mature earlier than most. As his mother struggled with addiction, he often found himself carrying responsibilities far beyond his age. Determined to help keep the household together, he turned to the streets and began hustling at an early age. Those experiences exposed him to survival, hardship, loyalty, betrayal, and the consequences that come with life in the game.
During his youth, Derick frequently traveled to Alliance, Ohio, where he spent time with his grandfather, Percy “Mr. Percy” Smith—the founder and owner of Mr. Percy’s Lounge Bar & Grill. A respected businessman, builder, and influential figure in Northeast Ohio, Mr. Percy possessed a lifetime of knowledge, wisdom, skills, and hard-earned lessons that he passed down to his family.
It was also in Alliance that Derick’s love for music began to take shape. His uncle, the late Kevin “Smitty” Smith, introduced him to the Southern sound through records such as Too $hort’s Short Dog’s in the House. From that moment, music became more than entertainment—it became an outlet, a calling, and a way to document the world he had experienced.
DBoi Visionz draws inspiration from legendary artists including Tupac Shakur, Pimp C, Bun B, 8Ball & MJG, Outkast, the Dungeon Family, E-40, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, Scarface, and other artists who transformed real-life experiences into timeless music.
A true creative visionary, DBoi Visionz writes and records music, produces tracks, plays instruments, engineers audio and video, and creates visual designs. His versatility has made him more than an artist—he is a modern-day creative architect with the ability to develop a vision from the first idea to the finished product.
In 2013, he founded Legacy Line Inc., a multi-branch creative and entertainment company built around music, photography, videography, graphic design, promotion, marketing, artist development, and future fashion ventures. After establishing the company, Derick temporarily stepped back from the spotlight to focus on his responsibilities as a founder and CEO, using his experience and resources to help other artists reach larger platforms.
But the artist never disappeared.
DBoi Visionz continues to write, record, and release music rooted in perseverance, ambition, street wisdom, family history, and the pursuit of something greater. His mission is not only to represent Alliance, Ohio, Decatur, Georgia, and every place that shaped him—but to build a legacy that creates opportunities for the artists and generations coming behind him.
