David Namerow

I’m a hand percussionist who’s been playing congas since the 1970’s with dozens of projects that cover a wide swath of the genre landscape throughout the region. I’m devoted to offering up solid rhythmic textures of velvet and thorn, punch and crackle, snap and slap, rhythms that may coast the edge of ALTROCK, a dash of LATIN SPICE, flavored by a bit of AFRO that hints deliciously of wider WORLD grooves. I believe my most valuable instruments are the two flappy appendages on either side of his head which are focused on contributing -- not dominating, nor competing with the groove being plowed. I’m not a tippy-tapper dilletante and respect those who recognize hand percussion as a delicious spice that can flavor almost any groove.
