About the Artist

David Arthur is the youngest son of world class WBA champion Arthur Brown Persley, circa 1952-1972, & Political Science Scholar & Government & Civil Servant, Sarah Montecillo Persley of the Montecillo Clan of Cebu Philippines. Though being the God son of Ferdinand Marcos & Emelda Marcos; the famed women with 1000 shoes, David grew up in very modest beginnings in San Diego, Ca.. He was always told by his mother he had been singing since 3 years old, so it was no surprise he developed a love for performance early on in life performing in School & Church pagents throughout childhood. In the fall of 1979, his family would move to Hollywood, Ca. where his love for performance begins to bloom. After graduating from the famed Hollywood High School of performance arts program in 1982, he pursued his Associates Degree in Music at Los Angeles City College. After his music studies at LACC, he transfers to the Lyric Opera Theatre Program on the main campus of ASU in 1989. There he would be mentored by: Sylvia Devenport - Opera Director and National Endowment of the Arts & New York Met Consultant, Dr. Kenneth Seipp - Opera Director & Conductor, Karen Coates -Broadway Coach, Director & Conductor, and Jazz Composer and Musician, Chuck Marohnic, as well as vocal coach, Warren Hoffer. In 1993, he earns his BM in music performance with an emphasis in voice from the Lyric Opera Theatre program - ASU main campus, Tempe, Az.. After a brief stint in Music Theatre from 1989 to 1993 performing in productions such as: Oscar's & Hammerstein's "Cinderella", "Good Time Charlie", "Closer Than Ever" by Maltby & Shire with Lyric Opera Theatre, "Stompin at the Savoy", & "The All Night Strut" with the Black Theatre Troup of Phoenix, he sang lead tenor for Phoenix based Jazz vocal group "Decades" in 1993 before heading back to Los Angeles, Ca. in 1994. In 1995, he performed with various rock bands with his older brother, guitarist, Arthur Persley Jr.: Shake The Bad Boy in 1995 & Chronic Gene from 2002 to 2006. Shake The Bad Boy produced a self-titled EP "STTB" release in 1995 & Chronic Gene's self-titled release "Chronic Gene" in 2004. After the disbandment of the rock band Chronic Gene in 2006, David began his own songwriting & music producing journey. It would not be until spring of 2012 when he would conceive the dream to establish his own music production company with the collaboration of his older brother. DAmusicgroup, is a music production company dedicated to the composition, production, and distribution of original music for Film/TV, Radio, & Multimedia purposes. In late summer of 2014, David attracts the attention of record production & distribution label owner, Jeffrey Collins, of FamousRecords/Universal Worldwide/UniversalMusicGroup. In 2015, he would be signed to TateMusicGroup/TateMusic Publishing LLC. At present, David continues to place his heart, trust, & faith in God for the health & strength to continue creating, producing, and distributing original music to share with his fans and, in some small way, to help make a difference in the world.
