Dave DeMarco is the bassist for Crack The Sky. Known primarily as a sideman in some of Maryland's most revered bands (Rebel Amish Radio, Never Never, Battery Apple), it was his work with neo-proggers Oblivion Sun that exposed him to an international audience via the band's 2007 debut CD for the Prophase Music label. DeMarco left Oblivion Sun in 2009, assembled a state-of-the-art home studio and began creating the demos which lead to Prophase signing him to a solo deal in 2010. There are currently two CDs in the works; the first being a solo CD of bass-oriented, heavy rock songs which will see DeMarco playing all the instruments, including his new 15-string bass guitar. The second CD will be a band recording featuring his more prog/fusion material. According to DeMarco, "Whichever CD gets finished first will be the first released".
DeMarco still logs ample road miles as a freelancer with an aggressive schedule in excess of 180 shows a year. Additionally, as a session bassist he continues to land high-profile work with numerous network TV shows, feature films, DVD trailers, video games and CDs. Like his bass collection, DeMarco's discography numbers in the mid-30s and is amusingly eclectic. Local indie CDs sit alongside those featuring some of fusion's most notable luminaries like Frank Gambale, Brett Garsed and Larry Fast and cover everything from metal to folk to R&B. DeMarco also created three CDs for the popular drum instructional series, "Turn It Up & Lay It Down" which is sold nationally through Guitar Center.
