WALL of STORMS is Clive Barratt's debut album.
Available on Spotify, iTunes, CD Baby, Apple, Google & AmazonMusic, Deezer & most online music stores.
Clive wrote the lyrics & music for all 12 WALL OF STORMS tracks. He sings lead & back-up vocals and plays 12 & 6-string acoustic guitars, lead, slide & bass guitars, mandolin, synthesizers, harmonica, percussion & piano.
Nine songs; I'M WITHOUT YOU (both versions); I MISS YOU; DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY (both versions) and THESE ARE THE RULES; have won Song of the Week on TalentCast, a weekly, indie music radio show from The Netherlands. I MISS YOU was also the Feature Song of the Week in the December 17, 2014 edition of Canadian Musician Radio.
WALL OF STORMS was recorded & produced at Marpole Recording Studio by Rob Begg; Bathouse Recording Studios by Nyles Spencer; GDrumsB Studio by Gary Barratt & mastered at Gotham City Studios by Craig Waddell.
The album was financed through contributions of fans from 13 countries via a music crowd-funding company in Germany.
Additional musicians on WALL OF STORMS include Rob Begg; drummers Rogé Belanger, Gary Barratt & Ron E. Wells; bassist Bill Patterson & vocalists Lisa Adrianne Witt, Andrea Petersen & Michelle Szulc.
Producer and multi-instrumentalist Rob Begg, plays lead, acoustic & bass guitars, keyboards & sings background vocals on several songs.
Drums & background vocals on "Tonight You're Going Out" were performed by Rogé Belanger. Tragically, Rogé passed away on 27 September 2012, soon after recording of the album began. Rogé spent 15 years touring with the Randy Bachman Jazz Band (The Guess Who & Bachman-Turner Overdrive) as Bachman's drummer & back-up vocalist. Rogé's distinctive harmonies are also heard on "Dance The Night Away". These two songs were Rogé's last formal recordings.
Gary Barratt, a.k.a. Doctor Drums is originally from England, is based in Kingston, Ontario and plays drums on five tracks. Gary has 54 years of drumming experience in almost every genre possible, including orchestral. He has played all over the British Isles, mainland Europe, Ireland, Canada & USA.
Lisa Adrianne, Andrea Petersen & Michelle Szulc are gifted & experienced singers from British Columbia,
whose unique vocal styles can be heard on 'I Miss You', 'Weirdos On The Loose' and 'Dance The Night Away' (fast version), respectively.
Bill Patterson; a bassist and keyboardist from Vancouver, BC, brings live gig & studio experience, playing several bass tracks, many with a McCartney-esque style, as well as some keyboards.
Clive got his first guitar at the age of 12, had basic music training in the UK and Canada and wrote his first song at the age of 16. His songs include various styles; interweaving influences of rock, contemporary pop, folk-rock, blues-rock, alt-country-rock, gospel and instrumental.
Believing versatility is a valuable trait, Clive performs solo, duet, trio or full band gigs when time permits in between his career as an airline pilot. The world of music provides an opportunity to escape from the seriousness of the aviation business.
Clive's hopes that listeners will be intrigued by the varied themes, lyrical complexities & diverse musical influences laced throughout his music. If fans end up periodically singing these songs to themselves after the audio stream, MP3 player or radio has been turned off, then it will be mission accomplished.
