BIOGRAPHIES:
JERRY--
Jerry began keyboard and drum lessons in upstate New York at age seven. Playing in local bands as a teenager he later majored in Music Theory and Business Administration at SUNY/Broome University.
Jerry then toured the U.S. four years performing in 21 states before settling in CALIFORNIA where he soon joined forces with L.A.'S "SILENT RAGE".
***Playing clubs full time and monthly industry showcases in Hollywood, 1987 brought the band a RECORD DEAL WITH CHAMELEON RECORDS releasing the album "Shattered Hearts". Produced by Paul Sabu, (DAVID BOWIE, ALICE COOPER), with legal representation from Lee Phillips, (THE EAGLES, KENNY LOGGINS, PRINCE, MICHAEL JACKSON), the band was propelled to re-sign with RCA/Simmons!
However, due to the recent "Grunge Music" craze sweeping Hollywood, their classic rock sound soon caused the group's success to fade.
After leaving the band Jerry continued as a studio artist and playing live shows with local Los Angeles bands.
***While in LA Jerry has shared the stage with "EDGAR WINTER", "THE KNACK", DOKKEN", and many others. He studied voice with Ron Anderson, (SEAL, AXL ROSE, NANCY WILSON, TIMOTHY B. SCHMIT), and met up with NEIL PEART of RUSH when Neil actually let Jerry play his massive drum set!
***After riding out the 1994 Northridge Earthquake two blocks from epicenter(!), Jerry, now top sales producer for a major computer firm, transferred to Charlottesville Virginia.
*** He has continued to study voice at PIEDMONT COLLEGE and with private lessons with voice professor, RUTH ANN BISHOP. Jerry started and managed the classic rock band “ClassX” 2010-2014, joined “Hot Roxx” in 2017, and “Group Therapy” in 2018-2019.
*** In early 2021 Jerry joined forces with UVA's Dr. Stephen Levine and started "Classic Road", a FUN-FILLLED-FULL-BAND OF TWO PEOPLE!
STEPHEN--
Stephen began playing guitar when he was ten and started performing just three years later with a band of much older musicians called Peking. Since then, he has performed solo and in various duos based in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Maine, and Virginia. While he enjoys playing a wide range of music, he has studied and performed primarily acoustic blues since the 1990s.
Since 2008, he has performed in the acoustic blues duo "Dr. Levine and the Dreaded Blues Lady" with his partner Lorie Strother. From older, esoteric styles such as Piedmont, Mississippi Hill Country, or Classic Female Blues to more recent songs by artists such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Keb’ Mo, and Bonnie Raitt, he and Lorie like to play it all, including some original material.
Stephen is also a historian at the University of Virginia where he includes in his teaching, cultural history courses on the evolution and significance of blues music in the US and beyond. Whether on the stage or in the classroom, he loves to share his music and knowledge of blues history with others. He likes playing many other guitar styles as well, including classical guitar, and is eclectic in his musical interests.
He has always enjoyed classic and modern rock from the 60s to the present and is thrilled to partner with Jerry to create arrangements of songs that will be familiar to many. Described as “a full band of two people,” Jerry’s lead vocals, percussion, and multi-instrument keyboard sounds coupled with Stephen’s guitar, bass, and backing vocals combine to create nuanced renditions of these classic tunes that are sure to make you smile and get your feet tapping.
