About the Artist

Chuck Frederick describes his songwriting process as a spiritual and intuitive "discovery" rather than a forced effort. He believes inspiration is a calling that connects him with the "eternal, spiritual," which he opens himself up to receive. Key aspects of Frederick's songwriting process. Intuitive and receptive: Rather than forcing himself to write, Frederick focuses on living his life with an open heart and mind, knowing that inspiration will find him. He embraces pain and joy equally, allowing both emotions to fuel his creative ideas. A "calling" to create: Frederick views his creative passion as a profound, spiritual connection. He believes that ideas come through him, allowing for a unique and personal expression in his songs. Connection to personal experience: Frederick first started writing songs at age 18, and his music often reflects his own journey and emotions. He describes each song as being like a "hand print" of a thought, feeling, or emotion. Musical background: With over a decade of performing in Nashville, Frederick has immersed himself in a rich musical environment. This background in Americana, country, and folk music informs his style, giving his songs a strong sense of place and narrative. Emotional honesty: The album titles and track names, such as Open Heart and a Prayer and "Feathers Brush My Heart," reflect his commitment to emotional vulnerability. His process involves accepting thoughts and feelings without judgment, which he says allows him to seek out beauty in a fearless way.
