““The future is waiting to be written.” By all accounts, you could be forgiven for thinking the presumably self-penned Facebook biog for one of London’s most exciting new outfits was taken from the script to Terminator 2. You know, the bit when Sarah Connor waxes lyrical on how there’s ‘no fate but what we make’. Needless to say, it isn’t, but it’s difficult to deny the line smacks of pop philosophy. Don’t let that put you off, though. The band in question- Chemical Trails- are actually really rather good. Nodding to a melting pot comprising disparate but thoroughly English ingredients; from the prog edges of Pink Floyd and Radiohead to the electronic accents of Depeche Mode, all re-read from a Brit Pop perspective; such descriptions might imply the troupe are a bit outdated, yet nothing could be further from the truth. So far we’ve only heard a little of what they have to offer, spending most of our time on the indie chart-topping (well, nearly- #6) ....”
