KG1 was born in Harlesden,North West London in the late sixties from a West Indian parentage & christian upbringing, going to baptist church every Sunday. Started mc-ing at the tender age of 12 years old on a Soundsystem - Freedom Sound. A local sound in the NW London region managed by the owner Justin. He built the sound after coming over from Jamaica in the late seventies. First playing at house parties and dances in the London Region & outer started to get a reputation for being an operator & selector of music. Playing tunes from reggae to Soul,Hiphop,Garage & jungle mixing up the records and different genres of music to good effort. After listening to sounds like King Jammy,Stereograph and attending dances like Tipper tone,Ambassador ,KG1 got more feeling for the reggae tradition vibe.Playing at the Notting Hill Carnival for the first time in 1986 & then in the following years leading up to the late 1990's still combining playing tunes & mic talking and building up the vibes on Freedom Sound discotech. Big respect to the sound system - Ital Soundsystem, Mr Denton ( big bellyman who pushed I & I on the sound later on in my journey!!!!!! kg1production.
