Brielle Kimmins – The Fire and Light
Brielle, (Brielle Kimmins) began her musical journey from her multicultural wellspring of black, white, Hispanic, and Native-American heritage. For Brielle, music is, as Sly Stone put it, a family affair. Her progressive-minded parents introduced her to the diverse musical geniuses of their generation, which includes such legendary artists such as Earth Wind & Fire, Frank Sinatra, and Harry Belafonte, all of whose artistry and cultural contributions inspired Brielle’s growing commitment to music as a vehicle for social transformation and personal inspiration. On becoming a musician-composer, she drew upon the musical legacies of her extended family: her godmothers, the legendary Natalie Cole and Phyllis Hayman, both inspired and encouraged her musical pursuits.
Groundbreaking, contemporary women artists such as Erykah Badu, Amy Winehouse, and Sade provided Brielle a sense of feminist empowerment and models for her own persona: Brielle –– a one woman, musical experience of Jazz influenced R&B, Pop and Hip Hop. Through her inspirations and hard work, Brielle soon mastered piano, flute, and even percussion,while honing her voice as a composer and singer. She began making a name for herself as a teenager, traveling to the East coast to give standout performances in choir concerts and singing competitions.
Fast forward to 2014 –– Brielle earned a coveted spot performing live on Philly’s WXPN radio. Later that year, she performed as the opening act for Hip-Hop legend Rakim. In 2015, she won a role in Dice Raw’s Hip-Hop Musical, performing and composing background vocals. The artist’s fire she started has only spread––Brielle shared the stage with Grammy Award-winner Anna Wise. By the end of 2015, Breille had uploaded her new single, “Mangos” to SoundCloud. In just under a year, the track racked up 150,000 plus rotations, a startling success for a young act. Her sound had been introduced to the world, and the world to Breille.
Now residing in the LA area, Brielle is currently working with Grammy-nominated producers and music industry veterans on her debut album. This new work includes her collaborations with from Grammy nominee PacDiv (Squatch Records), DK The Punisher (collaborator with Justin Bieber, Mac Miller, Dom Kennedy), the noted production duo Trigo Fare (which includes Grammy winner Caleb Speir of Estelle’s “American Boy” fame and Loslito, the original Black Eyed Peas & Breakestra keyboardist and producer); and Scott Mayo (Grammy-nominated producer musician whose credits include music icons Mick Jagger, Stevie Wonder, Cee-Lo Green, Ice Cube, Jennifer Hudson, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic). Outside of her studio work, Brielle writes new music, films music videos, and performs live.
In 2017, Breille projects include multi-venue and festival tour across the US in support of her debut LP and single on Mi5 Recordings/Hit Mission Records Universal Music Group.
