Brasil Modern Jazz Quartet, Release
The essence of any great music is its ability to reach its audience, the listener.
However, the great musical composers of the past were not necessarily thinking of the audience when composing the masterpieces of bygone eras.
In harmony with the goal of creating great music for the listener, the Brazil Jazz Ensemble is a group of talented musicians who seek to carry on the tradition of jazz improvisation using the rhythms of Brazil and American modern jazz and blues.
There is a movement within the neo-bop musicians of exploring compositional techniques as a means of furthering the exposure of new thematic ideas, compositional and rhythmic influences. The Brazil Modern Jazz Quartet seeks to explore through improvisation and composition the idea that jazz and blues music today can be respected as concert music and music that can be fun to listen to.
The re-emergence of samba and bossa nova has created musical careers for new artists and resurrected the careers of many veterans. The Brazil Modern Jazz Quartet’s goal is to be included as one of the important torch bearers not only in the new movement of samba and bossa nova, but also as explorers of the modern jazz movement influenced by rhythms, harmonies and the passion of Brazil.
Finally, the band members are aware of the power of music to create change and the powerful influences of popular music. BMJQ has a goal of attracting a larger audience, because of this BMJQ is actively exploring the influences of more popular styles and how these styles can be included in creating music that is aesthetically pleasing and socially accessible.
