BLUEWAVE---an incredibly diverse group of musicians coming together with fresh high energies and creative endeavor. Individually--and some collectively---these guys have come together for the purpose of making extraordinary music. Hear awesome 3 and 4 part harmonies with musical arrangements that keep you dancing, moving, singing--and will definitely keep your attention--leaving wanting more!
Starting with TAYLOR YORK , 22 yr- Taylor has been schooled on the drums since an early age representing the York family--of Tulsa, Oklahoma--3 generations worth. Taylor is using this oppurtunity to carry on the musical name and advance his skills as a top notch drummer from Oklahoma. From the studio to the stage he commands the attention of the band---just as comfortable in playing Classic Rock to Hip Hop to present day blueWave songs.
Yea, girls---you just gotta see this guy hit those skins!!!!
RANDY LAWRENCE --met Dean Nixon in a south Tulsa garage 4 years ago --only realizing a mutual connection of a best friend--(get the story of divine intervention live from Randy). After playing together for 2 years blueWave was cultivated from that earlier group-- As a lead vocalist and percussionist---congas, timbales, you name it-- Randy has graced stages from Austin to Tulsa and to the coasts--if not adding great vocals--then percussion, too. Having studied under his Mother--yes--as she was a nationally known classical pianist who also schooled many to great heights over her career. Randy's encyclopedic history of music lends huge when adding to lyrics and harmonies in all tunes namely the original music. You want to know more of Randy's really interesting musical history--ask him about his family---yea, you're wondering how that goes together.
CHUCK BAKER--if you have heard Chuck on stage--or from the studio--then you know. His guitar work cannot be expressed simply in words. His singing is a huge asset in blueWave as well. Chuck and Dean met 15 years ago when Dean joined Harvey and the Wallbangers--which Chuck was music director, guitar and vocals--at the time--1997. Chuck has played with Randy, Victor and Dean in blueWave--and before in the earlier group. At age of 21 Chuck was touring the world as Kenny Rogers lead guitar player--from there--his road has him gracing the stage with others from Bon Jovi to Hoyt Axton to Tommy Tutone. Guitar, fiddle, --and more---from rock to country to blues--his command of all genre's is unmatched ---unless you come up with someone. To see Chuck Baker perform is truly a highlight of any musical experience---just come see for yourself. Chuck's wife Diana serves as a great ear for the group -particulary vocals.
VICTOR YORK--Ok, Thanks to Taylor's dad---passing the York family music tradition on to Taylor. It doesn't stop as Victor's older brother Larry and their dad, Mr. York simply lived for music--Mr. York starting the first music store in Sand Springs, Oklahoma some 40 years ago. Victor has played bass guitar--and guitar since very young and is one of the premier bass players you will ever see--period--as far as a highly historical Tulsa music scene---Victor is at the top as a bass player. This dad/son tandom rhythm section is tight -tight-tight. Adding to his experience of playing in many bands over his career--from R&B to Soul and Funk--add the rock and more--Victor grew up singing in the church and can nail harmonies spot on--let alone arranging to the nth degree--besides---an incredible voice----"If we could get him to sing"!!!
DEAN NIXON-- Holding down keys--piano and organ and all keyboard parts, along with lead vocals with Randy and harmony. Starting at an early age 6 on piano--pushed by a mother who got him back into lessons--continually after he was getting kicked out. Obviously wanting to play something different. Starting on stage at age 12 he hasn't stopped. Playing with Jimmy Lafave in Jimmy's first "Nightribe" band - playing country in the 90's opening for Nashville's best to Harvey and the Wallbangers as well as recording with the Platter's to playing with Tommy Tutone--again with Chuck. As lead songwriter for the group, Dean is focused on new material continuously with all members contributing both in and out of the studio--from the parts to the vocals.
BLUEWAVE--as the original music of blueWave transcends there is a common thread that makes this music ---well, music you have to hear---you wont' sit still--you'll be dancing--the funky and rhythmic bottom end from Victor's bada__ bass with Taylor's solid clock and Randy's percussion to create a Reggae Rock beat with totally original riffs --Chuck will throw it into gear with rock, blues and even jazz--and more for total creative melodies and guitar rhythms that will leave your jaw on the floor--add keys from Dean--piano, organ--maybe you'll hear strings and more--again playing for years with Chuck they know the path for trading melodies and rhythms---this combination of kickin' upbeat fun, fun music is wildly contagious---adding the creative and strategic harmonies---one can only be enlightened and charged by seeing and hearing the "blueWave" experience. Don't miss it!!!
