“One of the country’s dancehall entertainers, Otis Chilamba aka Blasto, has taken advantage of his US tour to enter several deals involving recording his music as well as appearing in a movie project while conducting performances. In an interview with The Daily Times from the US, Blasto said he will start recording as well as acting this week. “I will be recording some material this week on Friday with New Jersey big rapper Robbie Maxie and then will get my first role in a movie which starts filming on Saturday,” he explained. He said the movie is called King of Newark and it features rappers like Maino and Vado among some notable names in it. “We are also going to shoot a video for the single ‘Rebel’ with a company called Hi Five Productions,” he said. Blasto says his trip so far has been very successful.”
“Fans should expect to see Reggae Dancehall sensation Blasto on the big screen after he landed a huge movie role in the U.S. The shooting started on Saturday. The movie, “King of Newark”, starring celebrity Brooklyn rapper Maino, Harlem rapper Vado as well as Jojo Simmons Jr (son to rap mogul Rev Run), will see Blasto launch his career as an actor. Commenting on the response to his music in the U.S., where he is on tour, the “Jah Nuh Sleep” artist said it had been overwhelming, while revealing he’d be on the road for a couple of months. Blasto performed at Rock Smile Concert in Virginia Beach before opening for Legendary Freeway Philly in New Jersey. He is also set to perform with Freeway in New York City on April 15.”

“First on the floor was Blasto, a local hoarse-voiced dance hall performer who is slowly becoming a sensation. Blasto blew the roof with his rhythms and his energetic dance, almost looking like a cannon ball let loose on stage while he incorporated the audience in chanting choruses.”
“In every corner of the globe, Jamaica’s music genres have been embraced by millions of fans and artistes. In the landlocked South Eastern African country of Malawi, one such artiste is Otis ‘Blasto’ Chilamba, a man said to be at the top of the dancehall/reggae food chain there. Although he’s yet to visit Jamaica, the birthplace of his preferred music genres, Blasto has been busy honing his dancehall/reggae delivery skills and wordplay composition, and has dreams of sharing the International stage with big name Jamaican artistes.”
