Blaquestalyon (formerly known as DJ Blaquestalyon) is a native of the NY/NJ metro-area who makes his home in Austin and San Antonio, TX. He is a producer, composer and songwriter and co-partner in the record label "9th Ward Production and Promotions Company, LLC". He is also the founder co-owner and sole producer for the female R&B singing group "Somethin' 4 The Fellas".
Jay Davis is a DJ and producer that has worked in the music industry (starting as a performing artist) since 1991. He became a professional producer in 2012 when he formed the singing group "Somethin' 4 The Fellas (S4TF)", which he took on the roles of producer, songwriter and manager. He recorded and produced his first album for S4TF in 2014 at the Sonic Ranch Studios and collaborated with industry veterans David Garza, Johnny McGee (of L.T.D.) and Manuel Calderon. Subsequent projects had him team up with David Garza in the studio for background vocal engineering for "Ozomatli" in their song "Marching On" and Manuel Calderon for a number of projects produced and released under his own brand (DJ Blaquestalyon), including the recording and vocal production for the soundtrack to video game "Shaqfu: A Legend Reborn", in collaboration with Steve Molitz. He has also produced records at Sonic Ranch for a number of local artists in the El Paso metropolitan area, introducing the little known treasure that is the largest residential studio in the United States to local artists.
In 2019 he started releasing music as a solo-artist under his shortened moniker "Blaquestalyon", featuring tracks composed, arranged, recorded and engineered completely by himself. In 2022 he began collaborating with other artists, producers and engineers again in credited and work-for-hire projects. These collaborations include work with the acts "Greenline"," Var Don", "Mountain Vibes", "Kenni Sosa", "DJ 2Klean", "AVO", "Dame Scott", "Pyro Tha Flame" and (of course) "Somethin' 4 The Fellas" and the variety of acts, musicians and engineers that collaborate with that group.
Jay is probably most well-known as a producer for his recreation of the 1985 hit record "Tender Love" (written and originally produced by Terry Lewins and James Samuel Harris), which he produced in partnership with musician Janelle Thompson; his musical overhaul of Aaliyah's and Timbaland's "4 Page Letter" with Latin Grammy winning engineer Manuel Calderon, and his own, completely original production "Sinful Taboo".
He has high hopes that his latest production, "Caribbean Connection" can be added to the aforementioned list.
