Cutting his musical teeth in iconic NYC clubs like The Bitter End and CBGB’s, Bill Maier quickly earned the respect of his peers and praise from national publications. Performing Songwriter wrote, “Bill Maier writes lyrics that touch the heart… melodies that stay in your head,” while Newsday called him “a songwriting sharpshooter… one of New York’s best kept musical secrets.”
After releasing two acclaimed albums with his New York band, Maier moved to Nashville at the urging of hit songwriter Hugh Prestwood. Since then, he has released five more albums, built a loyal following, and become a familiar face at Nashville venues including the Bluebird Café.
Maier’s songwriting has earned top honors in major contests, including two CMT/NSAI finalist spots and a 2nd-place finish in the Billboard Songwriting Contest. His songs have been recorded by a wide range of artists—from Billy Dean and Tara Thompson to indie rockers, blues musicians, and Americana performers.
In addition to his artist career, Maier composes and produces music for television, amassing more than 1000 placements on networks such as History, A&E, CNBC, Oxygen, Bravo, and Nickelodeon, along with numerous film credits and music featured in Tommy Hilfiger stores nationwide.
He appeared in the 2019 documentary Americart 2019, contributing both original songs and score.
Maier’s latest release, It’s All About The Ride, reflects a long creative journey and features co-writes with Janet Goodman, heartfelt storytelling, and a range of musical moods—from road-trip anthems to spiritual reflections and classic country humor—performed by top Nashville players.
