Excessum / Bio

Power, anger, and pure aggression!!! These words best describe the four piece heavy metal band from Mobile, Alabama; Excessum. These young men are on a mission and refuse to let anything get in their way. This is something that their home town figured out very quickly. Rather than focusing on a trend, Excessum strives to be unique and dominate the city they are playing in, which has allowed them to turn their local music scene upside down.
Since hitting the scene a little over two years ago, Excessum has been disgusted with the lack of metal enthusiasm in Mobile. So, they decided to show the rest of the country their music and have played in Texas, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana, North & South Carolina, Virginia, Delaware and New York. They also had the privilege of playing at SXSW 2015 in Austin, TX. Their aggravation also led them to the title of their debut album “The Battle Has Begun”. The title is a fair warning to the different music scenes, mainly in Mobile, that Excessum is now in full battle mode with live rounds. The album shows influences of thrash metal acts such as Slayer, Exodus, and Dark Angel; the power and groove of bands like Pantera and Exhorder; and even a little of the technicality that is heard in a band such as Death. The eight songs on the album all cover different topics lyrically, but it musically shows listeners one thing, the battle has begun. One can tell by listening to the first track.
Excessum wanted to prove that they could grow as musicians, and they did just that when they released their second album entitled "To Hell We Fall". The band does a little experimenting on this album and develops a more established sound. Maturity is present throughout the album, as each track offers something different. They took it to the next level with this release and were even allowed to show it off in front of the legendary Cannibal Corpse! Not only is the music impressive, Excessum nails it with the title, because this album could be the sound track to hell.
Excessum is definitely not looking to become the next Pantera or Metallica. They are more focused on proving to the world that they can create and perform heavy metal music. Although the band has many characteristics that make them original, it is their passion and determination that has allowed them to accomplish all that they have in such a short period of time, with plenty more to come.
