Robert Williams Jr.
Born in Detroit, Michigan on July 2, 1954 and raised in Chicago and Rock Island Illinois, Robert
Williams Jr‘s, love for music began at a very early age. It was not until 1978 at age 22 years, that
he began his singing career in a group called “Treacherous Funk”.
Influenced by the Motown sound, and icons such as Marvin Gaye, Temptations, Luther
Vandross, Four Tops, Impressions, and others, Robert Williams Jr. would travel throughout
Illinois and Iowa performing at local high school auditoriums, student unions, parks, football
games and night clubs covering R&B hits as well as his own music.
In 1980 Robert Williams Jr., stopped singing in order to find a new path for his life after
experiencing deaths and tragedy around him. It didn’t take long until Robert found his
expression in music through singing Gospel. It was at that time the Lord changed Robert’s ways
and he began to sing and praise the lord in song. It came to pass that Robert would be called to sing Gospel music.A testimony to the Lord for getting him out of “darkness”.
In 2008 Robert joined Belle Star Entertainment along side his wife Executive Producer Phyllis M. Williams and Executive Producer Robin Walton to produce his first single “Love Lifted Me”.
His wife Phyllis suggested that he try putting the lyrics
from an old traditional hymn called “Love Lifted Me” and every word fit the music perfectly. In
2010 the song was recorded and released by Belle Star Entertainment.
Robert Williams Jr., continues to inspire and bless people with his music in song. In 2007 “Finally” was released. A song collaborated with his wife for their wedding that was performed
live at their wedding on Feb 24, 2007. This song is now a favorite at weddings and performed
nationwide. From the words of Robert Williams Jr., “The LORD has put me on a path to sing to
the world about his mercy and his grace and his Love.
