Keeping the Gates is a four piece hailing from Seattle, Washington. After forming in the summer of 2008, the search began for their musical direction. This period did not last long, as the band began writing music comprising of an interesting blend of progressive rock and metal. The sound began to take shape in the form of conceptual music based off of novels currently being written by singer and guitarist, Chance. The goal of the group is to find an intriguing blend of music, story and visual art.
In the fall of 2009, Keeping the Gates met David Green of Houdini’s Tree. Finding a shared excitement for the sound and vision of the project, David recorded the group’s self-titled debut EP. Since its release in 2010, KTG has continued to record at Houdini’s Tree. Their first full length album, “Guardian”, is set to be released in early 2012. This album will be the first chapter of an over-arching story.
Originally consisting of Chance Clapper, Tony Clapper and Peter Twite, the group has since recruited a second guitarist, Greg Mattson to obtain a fuller sound. The epic begins in early 2012.
