Q: what tuning do you use most often/

A: Thank you for your question. Apologies for the amazing delay in responding. It was just forwarded to me. I hope this does help though whoever may be interested. I use standard tuning most of the time. The alternative tunings that I use include Drop D, Open D, DADGAD, Drop C, DADGBD and CGDGBE. I often experiment with songs and play around with various tunings in presentations of my material . One day I might perform a song in Drop D, the next day I perform the same song in DADGAD and the day after that in standard tuning. It all depends on the environment in which I am performing, the audience, sound, the emotion that exists in the venue, and my relationship with a particular audience . It all comes together and almost dictates how a specific song will be most effective in landing at that moment. I do my best to try and make it work. Quite often, we are all hearing a song played in an alternative tuning for the first time. It is great to go on adventure together with an attentive audience.
