Amy Ames’ 9th CD is out now, "Just for Laughs," and it is so catchy even the barnyard critters dance along. Yes, she writes her own songs and is known as a “Female Ray Stevens,” (minus the politics) and as the “Queen of Tongue and Cheek” due to the witty and cleaver ways she writes the lyrics in her songs, according to Amy Nicole Smith of RGV Magazine.
Ames started her rise in the music industry in 2011 with her song, “No Beer Here,” being picked up and played by over 1,000 main radio stations in the USA alone along with hundreds of radio stations around the globe holding the No. 1 position for the most radio downloads on the Global Americana Charts at AirplayDirect.com in July of 2011. She then followed it up in 2013 with her 5th album, "Do Drop In." After that in 2014, Ames recorded her 6th album consisting of songs that she wrote the English lyrics with twice nominated “Album of the Year,” Jean-Luc Leroux at the legendary Burn’s Recording Studio in Nashville.
Currently, Amy is finishing up an amazing “Northbound Train World Tour” in The South Pacific where she was featured on several Prime Time TV Shows. Coming up in 2018, Amy has her CD Nashville Release Party set for February with the Legendary George Hamilton on the Viva Nashvegas Show in Franklin, TN. Then Ames goes back out on her ambitious "World Tour" that includes more stops to her already busy schedule.
Ames was born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota and graduated from Duluth East High School. She went on to college to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota, where she graduated cum laude. After graduating, she moved to Texas to live with her grandmother. Amy’s granny loved to sing at the local bars in the Rio Grande Valley and would take Amy along. It wasn’t long before a neighbor called Amy’s father and reported her for staying out till the cows came home with her grandma. Upon being shocked, her father insisted she move back to Minnesota! But it was too late. Amy was in love with a Texas man by the Rio Grande. They married and she raised a step-daughter along with her two sons.
Initially, Ames and her daughter, Jackie Martinez, started writing zany commercials together, which were later formed into songs. After writing songs and recording, Ames titled her first upbeat effort, You Bug Me, Honey!, which has earned her the crown of “Country Music’s Funniest Woman.” Her second project reflects on her own personal journey, All God's Children Living with Autism, which shares the joys and challenges of raising a child with autism. Her autistic son, Sam, started composing classical music at the age of 10 and is now finishing up his own classical music CD. Ames’ third CD, self titled Amy Ames, got the attention of Nashville by quickly moving to the No.1 position on the Global Americana Charts www.AirplayDirect.com in July of 2011 with the most radio downloads. She then followed with her fourth CD titled, “Do Drop In.”

From those 2 CD's alone, nine of Amy's songs made the top 40 including the two from, "Do Drop In," that stayed on the CMR Nashville's HOTDISC TOP 40 for Eleven Straight Weeks.
Finally, Amy got her 1st No. 1 HIT with her comical song, "Holy Balls" on Country & Western Music Radio Show (CMA Member) Radio Beiaard 106.3 FM.
Review of Amy's 5th CD, "Do Drop In."
With most of the tracks square dancing and two stepping around the subjects of beer bellies, love handles and women who talk too much when they drink, you can't help but smile. A most unexpected gem here is the acoustic track "My Friend." With a touch of AC in the mix, Amy's wonderful voice slides into the harmonic chorus like a veteran of the genre. With a fun "tequila drinking" song, Mariachi style, to close out the CD, Amy brings us her view of the world, with tongue in cheek... so do drop in and give it a listen. Radio Mavens.
