Alfonso Lovo Band / Press

“This was my most impressive recent show !! Rio Loco, Touluse !!”

“Rio Loco 2014, in Toulouse France, was a great show, for us, and we hope to comeback soon !!”

“Alfonso Lovo, To Blues Or Not To Blues?”

“Alfonso Lovo, in the same article with Paul Mc Cartney and Joni Mitchell ? Wow !!”

“From Chicago with Lovo !! A años de su lanzamiento esta pegando. The Numero Group gang has unearthed yet another storied gem and pressed it up for the waiting masses, this time from Alfonso Lovo. La Gigantona is a thrilling mixture of psychedelic acid Latin Jazz, Nicaraguan-style classic Spanish Guitar and percussion filled Funk. Thanks to the deep digging abilities of the Numero Group, this amazing record finally sees the light of day. La Gigantona is gentle and heartfelt with pepperings of splendid and inspired guitar work and hard hitting and breathtakingly ecstatic body moving Funk Jazz pieces that take their time, stretch out and explore the groove. Reminiscent of Miles Davis' "On The Corner", Eddie Palmieri's "Harlem River Drive" project with a distinctly Latin vibe enhancement and of course early era-Santana, "La Gigantona" is lost treasure that warrants many a repeated listen just to catch up on this long forgotten mystery album of soul saving rhapsody. Mega Recommended.”

“Relix Magazine, still giving me all the backing possible !!”

“The lost Jewel of Nicaraguan Rock ! ALFONSO LOVO La joya perdida del rock nicaragüense 'La Gigantona', el álbum perdido de Alfonso Lovo, llegó a las tiendas en 2013 después de pasar décadas extraviado tras la revolución en Nicaragua”

“Alfonso Lovo, farewell party in Madrid, at The Hat Bar, in HOLA.com.”

“Thanks to the famous Carmen Martinez Bordiú, for her incredible review of my show in Hat Bar, Madrid. VIVA ESPAÑA.!”

“Lovo, the wealthy son of a leading Nicaraguan politician, may seem an unlikely rock trailblazer, but this LP, recorded in 1976 as a pet project with an extravagant budget, is a coruscating psych gem.”

“This article has a great view of mi masterpiece La Gigsntona in Record Collector Magazine. Interesting angle..Read it please.”

Paul Bowler - Lost Psych Classic Unearthed

““Music has never been my real profession, but it’s been my passion, you know?” Lovo says. “You have to take your chances and make something that you feel is new. Maybe people won’t like it, but if you at least put your heart into it, you can get a larger reward out of that. Sometimes you plan something so well, and you work really hard and you try to push it, and it never ripens. It happened to me. And then something I had in a closet – in a box – that I forgot about, my daughter finds it and suddenly it’s all over the place. It’s amazing. It’s something that I never expected.””
