WZXL Presents JOHN EDDIE and His Dirty Ol’ Band with Special Guest STONEBABY at Borgata Festival Park , Friday July 17th WZXL Presents a special free concert, Friday, July 17 at Borgata Festival Park with Legendary Rocker John Eddie and His Dirty Ol’ Band along with special guest StoneBaby. John Eddie, an American rock singer and NJ resident who has performed with the likes of Bruce Springsteen , South Side Johnny and The Asbury Jukes, Willie Nile and others, EDDIE moved to New Jersey in the 1970s and became a popular club circuit musician there, in venues such as The Fast Lane, The Stone Pony, Tradewinds and The Birch Hill, occasionally performing with BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN. JOHN signed with COLUMBIA RECORDS and released two albums including his 1986 self-titled debut, JOHN EDDIE. The first single, "Jungle Boy", peaked on Billboard at #17 Rock and #52 Hot 100. At the label's behest, his long-time band was replaced for the album by members of SPRINGSTEEN'S E STREET BAND. He opened for BOB SEGER and THE KINKS in the late 1980s. He then signed with ELEKTRA RECORDS where he was chosen to represent Elektra on their 40th Anniversary record called Rubaiyat with his version of THE CURE'S "In Between Days". Since then EDDIE has recorded independently and toured extensively. He subsequently secured a record deal with Lost Highway Records and released Who the Hell is John Eddie? The album produced three Top 10 singles at Triple-A Radio. KID ROCK has covered "Lowlife", "Forty" and "Happy New Year" all written by JOHN. His latest album, 2012's Same Old Brand New Me features 18 songs. In 2013, the song EDDIE co-wrote with BRANTLEY GILBERT, "More Than Miles", became a top country hit for GILBERT, peaking at No. 6 on the country charts. He also had a song featured in the ZAC EFRON film, At Any Price, entitled "The Man I Am" that was released in 2013. Recently SAMMY HAGAR recorded one of John's songs, "Loud". Follow John Eddie online www.johneddie.com www.facebook.com/pages/John-Eddie-Singer-Songwriter/130727130307961 Scott Philipp, an Atlantic City native son, will also perform with his band, StoneBaby (Bobby Leonhardt, Tony Schiavo, and Jason Shainline) as part of the 2015 "If We Were Young Tour". You will also hear StoneBaby’s newly released single, "You'll Stay Here". Rock fans won’t want to miss this outdoor show! Staking their claim as modern-day pulp rock minimalists, StoneBaby's Scott Philipp (guitars/vocals) and Tony Schiavo (drums) have collaborated on a shimmering new 7-song EP, Illuminated. Following 2007's Delusions of Grandeur and Philipp's Just Another Day (2008), the new independent release finds the band stripping away the layers to get to the essence of their songs. "We consciously tried to simplify things, to get to the heart of the songs, to be as straightforward as possible," says Philipp. "We didn't want to overdo it – we kept it true to what we do live. This is StoneBaby, plain and simple." Drawing on their 25-year history as band mates and collaborators, Philipp and Schiavo's songs point to the pop clarity of The Outfield, the driving energy of The Smithereens, and the quirky song sense of Colin Hay (Men at Work). The duo also draws from the enthusiasm and drive of their newest member, guitarist Bobby Leonhardt, who brings a renewed energy to the band's recorded and live performances. Jason Shainline (bass) rounds out the power-pop foursome, who have been diligently touring the eastern corridor from New York to Baltimore, playing live gigs and doing promotional appearances, including RTN's variety talk show, "On The Couch." With it's roots in Philadelphia and the greater Delaware Valley, StoneBaby's sound owes a debt to superstar acts that grew from the same scene, including Hall and Oates, Bon Jovi, Todd Rundgren, and The Hooters. Philipp even studied guitar with John Lilley (The Hooters) and lists Philly's Tom Gillam and Craig Simon among his influences and mentors. Illuminated is a tight group of original compositions, led by the featured single, "Good Times." The track, like the others on the EP, showcases Philipp's strong, dynamic vocals, and blends a classic rock base with an equal dose of melancholy and optimism. Also included on the EP is a bonus seventh track, a cover of Journey's down-tempo hit "Send Her My Love" from the Frontiers album. StoneBaby used this song as a chance to embellish the quartet, enlisting the saxophone playing of Jay Davidson (Whitney Houston, Cinderella, Billy Preston, Amos Lee) to complement Philipp and company’s take on Journey’s unmistakable sound. “Artist: StoneBaby Album: Illuminated Reviewer: Annie Reuter http://yousingiwrite.blogspot.com/ Following their 2008 release Just Another Day, StoneBaby decided to switch things up with their latest EP Illuminated. Their new set of seven songs resulted in stripping away the layers to showcase a new side to the band. "We consciously tried to simplify things, to get to the heart of the songs, to be as straightforward as possible," singer Scott Philipp said. "We didn't want to overdo it – we kept it true to what we do live. This is StoneBaby, plain and simple." A fitting start to the EP, “Not Right Now” kicks things off with plenty of energy and catchy guitar licks. The combination of Scott Philipp on guitar and vocals alongside Tony Schiavo on drums blends well throughout the nearly three-minute track and it comes as no surprise that the two friends have been making music together for 25 years. “Everybody wants to be a star/ Doesn’t really matter who you are,” Philipp sings.
