The Strummer Room Project Presents...are launching our new residency at The Jericho Tavern with a fantastic line-up of well respected Oxford based bands and some great talent from just outside the county. FRACTURE - Being likened to bands like Ocean Colour Scene and Kings of Leon, they have now been gigging regularly across the South of England, and have built up a reputation for their energetic and dynamic live performances. Filling out several Oxford venues, which has recently culminated in a very well received headline performance at Oxfords O2 Academy in April 2014, where they released their debut EP 'No Control'. July 2014 has also seen Fracture's track 'Stand in Line' receive radio play on Dave Gilyeat's BBC Introducing Oxford radio show, and performing at one of Readings BBC Introducing shows. 2014 also saw Fracture perform at Forever Sun Festival alongside acts such as The Happy Mondays and Buzzcocks. THE SHAPES - Some proper grown-up pop music from this local folky country rocky type ensemble. With nods to 70s Dylan, Cockney Rebel and Squeeze, they ply a fine trade in elegant, melodic tunes, spiked with piquant mandolin and cheeky keyboard. SILVERSPARK - Powerful. Melodic. Edgy. Female-fronted Indie Rock performed with grit and soul. Fusing their musical experiences and an eclectic mix of influences, Carley Phillips (Vocals) and Matt Phillips (Guitar) formed SilverSpark as a Duo in November 2011. Their first songs were inspired by real life frustrations, elations and experiences. With growing demand and a burning desire to take SilverSpark on the road, the duo expanded in 2013 to become a 4-piece with a talented, driving rhythm section.

"Add strings for a Bond theme. Weighing in at only 78 seconds, this is the first I’ve heard of Daventry based Indie quartet SilverSpark. In a word? Impressed. The track is punchy from the outset, the guitar tone edging towards Hendrix in the beginning. At points it wants to develop into a fully blown Bond theme. It flows beautifully however seems to finish before being given a chance to develop further, although you’ll be hard pushed to do that in just over a minute. The vocals are standout and remind me of early Christina Aguilera tracks, powerful, gritty and on edge, retaining control throughout. The ingredients are all there, and with a good engineer it has massive potential. Frankly I’m looking forward to hearing this as a full length, mastered track. Musically it’s brilliant, time to polish it and present it to the world.
