Poetry ska rock with vaudeville comedy and great rock guitar!
Poetry Ska Rock with vaudeville comedy, great guitar with drums, bass, clarinet and vocals!!
Clown rock, existential ska with comedy and vaudeville hijinks featuring Aldo Perez.
Will Forte puts it like this: There is a guy named Aldo Perez who does a show every couple of weeks at the Living Room in Soho. Me and my friends Leo and Demetri just happened to be there one night and saw his show and it was so awesome, our heads exploded. It’s so hard to explain what he does – it’s a mixture of full-commitment comedy and music that has to be seen to be believed. But I just recently went to see his new play (The Curse of the Mystic Renaldo The) at the 3LD Art and Technology Center and my head, which had finally regenerated, exploded all over again. Go see this show! And then go see him at the Livingroom!

“Lyrics like “there’s something creepy ‘bout the sunset” roll around with the intro “I wrote this song last summer and I hope you do, too. Jenny Lee Mitchell puts aside her clarinet and sings beautiful lunacy in a suddenly blue tent. When they turn weird, it’s effective, even with fake hillbilly teeth. At the centre is a real five-piece NYC band called Renaldo The who muster a creepy freak show tension using props, vaudeville face-acting and a general understanding of how to put on a good show, including telling a story. There is onstage birth, beheading, a dental apparatus straight outta Hellraiser and a buzzing hair clipper held to the mic.”
