Zabriskie create cinematic shoegaze that expands time - shaping the moments when memory lingers, change unfolds, and time feels suddenly visible. The band is a trio with guitar-vocals, bass and drums-percussion playing original songs in a unique blend of Shoegaze mixed with elements of Dreampop and Post-Rock. Shoegaze has always felt like a distant transmission — born in early-1990s England, but barely reaching Switzerland at the time. Only with the quiet revival of the mid-2010s did its hazy glow begin to surface here as well, carried by a handful of bands emerging from the fog. Zabriskie are one of those rare voices. The Zurich-based trio move between shoegaze and dream pop, shaping dense guitar textures, blurred harmonies and melodies that linger rather than insist. Following the release of their single “South Pacific” in November, they returned at the end of January with “Once”, followed by "What Have I Done" in April, the third single taken from their upcoming EP, set for release in June 2026. The band’s roots stretch back to the mid-1990s, when singer and guitarist Alex Herter and bassist Andreas Vischer first played together in a grunge band, touring across Switzerland. Years later, with the addition of drummer Andy Hofstetter, these early fragments slowly crystallised into Zabriskie. Since 2016, the band has released several albums and played concerts consistently throughout the country. What began as a side project gradually became the central focus of Herter’s artistic work. Songs originate from his writing and evolve collectively within the band. Over multiple releases — last year the EP “All Things Become Light” (March 2025) and a set of singles from the upcoming EP (June 2026)— Zabriskie have refined their sound layer by layer, while continuously shaping a live performance that mirrors the depth of their studio recordings.
Balancing expansive studio textures with the physical reality of live instruments, their music thrives on reverbs, delays and distorted guitar layers — a signature that has made Zabriskie one of the most distinctive shoegaze acts in Switzerland today.
