Young Manik
Kamal “Manik” Haider or Young Manik was born in San Francisco, Califonia and moved to Broward County in Southern Florida at 13. Manik first got into music by teaching himself how to produce beats on Reason at the age of 14 and selling the beats he made. Looking to expand his musical talents he taught himself how to remix music at 15 years old; he got his first drum machine for his 16th birthday and started experimenting with sampled beats for the first time. Young Manik had his first exposure to ProTools while recording at the age of 17, featuring on his debut track with with Dusti and Lance Geneva, titled Dollas. Kamal graduated at 18 and thats when he decided to take his music more seriously as an artist. Once his first microphone was given to him at 19 by his uncle, Manik started recording and producing in his basement with Dusti until he moved to Jacksonville, Florida to peruse his college education; he then purchased ProTools and taught himself how to mix and master music, and how to operate the software during his off-time at his school. At the age of 20 he came up with the name “Manik” and announced his first mixtape Unplugged Vol. 1 soon to be released.
