Wilsoni Tha' Funk Masta
Creative Producer/Performer, Beatmaker, Songwriter, Arranger, DJ: Wilsoni Tha' Funk Masta From a small part of the Scottish Borders, once put on the map by ‘80s funk-folk clansman Jesse Rae, Wilsoni was digging on Jamiroquai, James Brown and P-Funk whilst his classmates drilled the standard indie hits of the day. From wandering Glasgow’s indie wilderness and discovering London had lost its Acid Jazz, Wisoni's back in "Auld Reekie" Edinburgh - where he's trying to figure out the world from his “sanctuary of stank”. Excluding the locally mixed song Strange People, and a few featured comrades recruited to the cause, Wilsoni’s records are a one-man show exhibiting years of groove-based musical osmosis and channel the funk through the spectrum of hip-hop, dub and jazz in true purple fashion as a producer and multi instrumentalist. As we revive the ‘90s, uptown folks and lowdown dilletantes are ready to freak. In an age of political disaffection, economic hardship, and superficial greed (not unlike the ‘70s), the gospel according to George Clinton serves as the driving force behind Wilsoni’s quest to be “the Jam Hard Vanguard”, reminding people that the funk is relevant in the 21st Century and rallying fellow funkateers towards a revolution of the mind!
