The ToneKats

One of Canada's most versatile rock n roll bands - originals yes, but covers - you name it they play it, even new country rock! Originally from Toronto, Dave Bull on guitars & John Sedgwick formed the ToneKats in 2007. Martin Bracken LaForest joined the band on drums and vocals in late 2023. Dave, John and Martin have created a unique and exciting rock vibe. John Sedgwick was the leader of "The Beautiful Losers" in the early 1990s Toronto band scene. They came oh so close to being signed. But fate would intervene after he had shared stages across Ontario with Blue Rodeo, Max Webster, Matchbox 20, Joan Osborne, The Spoons, Mountain, Junkhouse, Jeff Healy Band, Modern English and more. Dave played for some 20 years as "Buddy Holly" in Buddy Holly Live! in theatres, for charities, festivals and special events across Ontario and has been playing in such bands as "The Bon Evans Band", (active since 2011) and formerly "The Rave", "The Rockabilly All Stars", "Buddy Holly Live!" and The Mudcats" to name the more recent ones. The ToneKats have been the core of Dave Bull and John Sedgwick since 2007. The original band name came in 2003 from Clint Hierlihy, founder of Canada's 1964 Juno winners (The Esquires from Ottawa, Ontario). Eventually, the band changed from a rockabilly band into a modern rock band with 70s and 90s sensibilities with newer song choices, varied tempos and some inspired vocal and instrumental harmonies.
