When I was 5 years old I had a dream that I was playing a piano concerto by Beethoven. I started learning piano when I was 7 and started composing within a year. It all started here... I had made a mistake and created a new sound, and then I just went with it. I have always tried to be as unique as possible but if it's too abstract then it may not be well understood or accepted. Some familiar chord progressions and melodic styles are important to engage the audience... it says that you understand them, refreshes them, and then the unique material intrigues them. I stopped taking piano lessons when I was 15 and decided just to work on my own songs but when I was 25 I realized that my style wasn't expanding, so I learned to play Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto #1, 1st Movement, Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto #2, 1st Movement, Beethoven's Piano Concerto #1, 1st Movement, Chopin's Tarantella, Beethoven's Piano Sonata #16, Debussy's Suite Bergamasque, which includes Clair De Lune, and Franz Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody #3.
