The tomcats formed in october 1978 in kingston, rhode island. all four founding members, sleepy john navazio, greg macedo, larry brusic and tom carmody were students at the university of rhode island at that time.after wearing out their welcome on campus they began playing at house parties off campus. after being chased out of town like frankenstien by the local police they began playing the only place left. local clubs and dive bars.word got out the tomcats were a rock and roll dance band, girls came and the guys followed. the tomcats fled town and headed to providence then on to boston.
