The Sweethearts

The Sweethearts are a female fronted punk band from Austin, TX. They play catchy, melodic and upbeat songs with a pop punk heart. They have a spunky, contagious enthusiasm that will surely make you smile. The band is full of energy and attitude which creates the perfect blend to the sultry crooning vocals. They are influenced by the old school punk sounds of the Ramones, Blondie, Go-Gos, and Joan Jett, while also being influenced by artists such as Screeching Weasel, Green Day and No Doubt. The Sweethearts are Linette Hernandez on vocals, Ren Hernandez on guitar, Javier Garcia on bass, and Rudy Rodriguez on drums. Although all four members currently reside in Austin, they are all originally from Brownsville, TX except for their drummer Rudy Rodriguez. He is from Waxahachie, TX. Linette and Ren originally founded the band in 1998 and have kept it going throughout the years. The band has played all over Texas and has also toured the west coast several times. They are proud to have shared the stage with many of their favorite bands. The Sweethearts have released four albums; two on Austin's indie label, Mortville Records, and two self released. They are currently working on new material and are scheduled to record this summer 2016 at Sonic Iguana studio with legendary producer Mass Giorgini.
