The Lively Exchange

The Lively Exchange is throwback Americana for the modern listener. Their music pays respect to the likes of The Band, Bruce Springsteen, and Bob Dylan. With those artists in mind, their aim is to bring Rock 'N Roll back to the mainstream music culture. These four musicians prove Rock 'N Roll is not dead but quite lively. The Lively Exchange is a four piece band featuring Andrew Varson on guitar/vocals, Dustin Merkle on drums/vocals, Cameron Pickup on fiddle, and Ethan Bruns on bass/piano. With roots from Kentucky to Georgia, southern soul oozes from each strum, pluck, and kick. While their playing days as a band are young, each member played with another throughout high school and college. It was not until December 2015 they decided to join forces. Equipped with a notebook of songs each, Merkle and Varson recruited one of the best fiddle players in the Atlanta area to add the punch they needed. With a bass player in mind living in Nashville, they looked to Bruns to fill in temporarily. His unique rolling bass lines and his piano prowess impressed the rest of the Exchange enough to become a permanent fit, completing the foundation of the band. Occasionally joined by friends on Slide Guitar, Lead Guitar, and Saxophone, The Lively Exchange delivers a balance of classic and modern Americana capable of joining fathers and sons on back porches across America. With a growing collection of songs, they have recorded their self titled EP—released in February 2017. The Lively Exchange continues to play in the Atlanta area, expanding their songs and their audience. The more they play, the livelier they get. Their roots-rock rhythm lays the foundation for soulful harmonies and a complimentary fiddle creating a southern symphony of sound.
