The Genders

The Genders were formed by Amir Neubach and Ofer Koren in 2004 in Tel Aviv, Israel. They recorded their first album "Rockin in Ramallah" (AMP Records/8th Note Records) and in 2005, teamed up with drummer Or Kachlon and set out on their first US tour. In 2006 The Genders released "Virgin No. 72" (Dead Seas Records) and embarked on an extensive US tour that took them from coast to coast and back again, solidifying their status as Israel's hardest working rock band. Songs off "Virgin No. 72" and "Rockin in Ramallah" made their way into US TV shows such as "90210", "Castle", "Combat Nurses", "Plain Jane", "LA Ink" among others, thanks to a fruitful association with "Love Cat Music", a NY based publishing firm. In 2013 The Genders released "Guts And Heartstings", with the talented Yohai Portal on guitar and Raz Blitzblau on bass. The album received rave reviews and includes the band's first official music videos, "Rock Bottom" and "Knee High Boots" In the last 5 years The Genders contributed countless songs to movie soundtracks ("That's My Boy", "I Smile Back", "American Pie 7 The Book of Love" and TV shows ("True Blood", "The Affair", "The Good Wife") In 2016, original members Ofer and Amir reunited to record The Genders' latest effort, which brings them back to their roots with a new album of 60's inspired rocknroll, psychedelia and garage rock. The first single "I'm a Freak" is a garage rock anthem that pays homage to "Nuggets" tunes from the 1960's. In 2019 the album Take Me To The Freeway is released and The Genders, now based in Austin, TX take their slinky swaggering Devil's Music to the steamy bars and clubs of Texas with a fervor.
