the blacklight automaton

The Blacklight Automaton was formed in 1996 as a Noize project. Starting with cassette tapes and boomboxes, it's sole member Brian Fisher embarked on Lo-Fi experiments, creating hauntingly jarring soundscapes. The project slowed considerably with Fisher's inclusion in to the Industrial metal outfit Throat Culture (later Throcult) in 1999. The pace further slowed when Fisher co-founded Nicaraguan Death Squad in 2001. With Fisher's departure from Throcult in 2003 and the procuring of digital recording gear, the pace picked up considerably. The project now drifted from the once experimental soundscapes to Metal, Electro, D&B, Jazz and Death Metal. 2006 saw the addition of Nicaraguan Death Squad drummer Tony Engel as guitarist and multi-instrumentalist. The now "band" upgraded their recording capabilities once again. Building multiple studios their output again jumped, Poised to release a number of projects, The Blacklight Automaton has now stepped into the realm of film scoring with the creation of Handcarved Films. A local film collective that includes Fisher and Engel.
