Canyon

Canyon is a live band, period. Since coming together in its current lineup, Canyon has been dedicated to two common goals: inspiring a new generation of rock n’ roll fans and musicians with authentic songwriting, and developing one of the most powerful live performances of any band in town to back it up. These goals reflect the most important aspects of the group’s primary influences, which include Lynyrd Skynyrd, Guns N’ Roses, Van Halen, and Rush. These Southern, prog, and hard rock roots are paired with a desire to create new music they want to hear and more importantly, feel. Along with their common influences as a group, Canyon’s distinct overall sound is fueled by its members’ individual backgrounds. For example, singer John grew up on pop, southern rock, and country music, and toured as a solo act briefly before joining the band. Lead guitarists Michael and Tius are the hard rockers. Heavy-handed drummer Luke brings a healthy dose of Bonham-meets-Peart style behind the drum kit, while Sean leans on his R&B, jazz and prog rock taste with his creative bass lines. These different ingredients breathe life into Canyon's own unique brand of aggressively fun rock n' roll. Within a month of solidifying this lineup, Canyon began appearing at local Charlotte area venues to test new original material. After the first three showings, they quickly began earning opening slots for more established local and touring bands at venues from Charlotte to Clearwater, Florida. In 2022, the band has plans to release a debut single and continue performing locally and regionally.
