Acoustic Rescue Unit

The Acoustic Rescue Unit (formerly Chuck's Wagon) plays country blues....Americana from Chicago. Formed in 2013 to support our original music, we are: Chuck Pinney - multi-instrumentalist, vocals Bill Wedan - acoustic guitar, vocals Lem Roby - bass, vocals Michael "Mac" MacCullough - drums The name, Acoustic Rescue Unit came about when longtime friend asked Chuck's Wagon to fill in due to a sudden cancellation at a venue she books. Our bass player at the time was not available but we volunteered to do the show acoustically. We play original music as well as covers, carefully selected to blend with our rootsy sound, described variously as "singer/songwriter" and "kind of like The Dead". We released our first CD "ARU" in 2018 with material recorded with our first drummer, Scott Hirtenstein. A typical three hour show will consist of an approximate 1:3 ratio of originals to covers. We cover tunes by Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell, Gram Parsons, John Hiatt, Allman Brothers, Dr. John, Tom Waits and more. We are available for all venues, festivals, and block parties, private or corporate events.
