Ted J. Reed
Ted J. Reed is a singer-songwriter based in the Metro Detroit Area. Influenced by Jazz, Rockabilly, Lounge and Post-punk, Ted sharpened his songwriting skills with the seminal Detroit Swing & Rockabilly outfit “Velvis” in the late 1990s. Ted’s journey has been a rhythmic ramshackle of non-essential non sequiturs: • He managed bands (including legendary Ann Arbor garage rockers “The Holy Cows”) • Ran an indie record label (Ardvark Records) and an underground nightclub (Norma’s at Nine) • Modeled in New York (Ikon Models) and L.A. (Pang Matsui) • Worked in music supervision on movies and soundtracks in Hollywood (including the Oscar winning ‘Training Day’ & ‘Austin Powers in Goldmember’) • Married an actress from cult 90’s TV show ‘Twin Peaks’ Ted slipped out of sight in 2003 and spent his nights writing songs and analyzing dreamers & insomniacs in sleep laboratories. He reemerged in 2011 with his solo debut E.P. “Ted J. Reed & the Serious Moonlight” on the Ann Arbor indie record label ‘Oddfellow Music’. He followed with the 2014 independently released “Razzmatazz” E.P. recorded, mixed and mastered by Tony Hamera (of ‘The Blueflowers’) at the Tempermill in Ferndale, MI. Ted plays solo acoustic shows throughout Southeastern Lower Michigan and has a full length album scheduled for release in 2017.
