Solo Goodspeed
Our minds are the realest place we can imagine.
Stick player/composer/producer Solo Goodspeed is a southern California-based musician, active (on and off) in the Los Angeles area since the late 1970s. From experimental home recording, to live performance, to soundtracks for theatre, Solo's musical range belies a process of constant expansion. Though his preferred instrument is the Chapman Stick (8-string bass and 12-string Grand Railboard), he is also a veteran of piano and synth, and has been known to move his hands around Theremin on occasion. The current project, Benign Tremors, represents an accumulation of musical interests over the years, with an emphasis on songwriting encompassing themes of existentialism, futurism, irony, paradox, and parody, gently pushing boundaries beyond the constraints of industrial interests, but retaining accessibility for reasonably open-minded listeners. A previous project, SchizoBrainiac, emphasized instrumentals, referred to as "scores", the music taking a more decidedly abstract route, for more adventurous ears. The tracks posted here represent a wide variety of output, and should not be construed to be a specific direction, but as different facets of an ever-evolving, yet integrated project/object in progress.
