Shanty Sweets

Shanty Sweets is a reggae, ska, neo-soul, classic jazz, and blues vocalist from Toronto. This versatile and talented singer-songwriter has captured the attention of her audience through her angelic-soulful voice, entertaining stage presence and warm personality. Along side her bandmates, she has had the pleasure of performing at many events held at venues such as The AGO, Globus Theatre (Bobcaygen, ON), The Hilton Hotel, The Atria (Oshawa, ON), The International Pearson Airport and Nathan Phillip Square...just to name a few. With many years of experience under her belt and the deep love she has for music, Shanty takes pride in having the ability to build connections with many people from all walks of life through her music. At the age of sixteen, she discovered her passion for music and her ability to sing. During that year, she became a member of a community youth choir called the Brandon Street Choir. At the age of seventeen, she joined a band called Rahi and the New High, where she sang back-up vocalists for a talented, American soul artist by the name of Rahi High. Under his guidance, she learned the basics of playing guitar and learned quickly, creating a song within a couple of days. Having little- to- no knowledge of theory or reading notes, she taught herself to play-by-ear. Using that skill, she has created/produced the melodies for her expressive original music. Shanty finds joy and contentment in sharing her talent and experiences and hopes to connect with others around the globe through her music.
