Second Drive

The founding members, Dan Hyland and Stephen Butler, of Second Drive first came together with their dreams and goals in October 2008. The first year they spent much of their time just writing jam songs and learning how to play well together. During the first 2 years they wrote some of their first songs including; Victim, Scraping, Aftermath (Check My Pulse), Turn Away, Sick Lil Grin and Antithesis. As time went on Stephen and Dan continued to write but since they were still a two man project writing the parts for a five member band, they began to buy recording equipment and lay down all their thoughts in their home studio. During their second year together they began scouting out musicians to fill the spots and complete the band. Justin LeBlanc soon entered the band as the second guitar player. Justin lived two doors down from drummer Dan Hyland which helped create momentum for the band and build a stronger foundation. Later on Jon Copeland joined in Second Drive as the bass guitarist. Over time Second Drive went through two different singers, Randy Elizondo and Evan Everett, but found it difficult to find a singer that could provide the sound and vocal range, as well as commitment, that the band was needing. Since lyrics for the songs were already written by Dan and Stephen it made it a clearer image for what they were looking for. In addition to members being released, Jon was released from playing the bass for reasons of commitment and skill. Then Michael Royal was brought in as Second Drive's singer. Michael and Stephen had been in a previous band from years earlier and the connections was just too strong to ignore. With having two guitar players and no Bass, Justin decided to fill in the whole by playing bass until a replacement can be found. As of now Second Drive has reached its fullest potential ever. With a strong base of musicians and a connection between the members, Second Drive looks forward to years of writing music and playing on stage.
