Roy Cost

Hello Artists/Friends/ Fans. I am Roy Cost, a recording artist/songwriter/musician residing in Conway, Arkansas. I was born in Gravelly, Arkansas and my parents were farmers. These days I like to write songs and record them to CD. I do many of my recordings in the acoustic style with a flat-top guitar. My two newest recordings are traditional country songs, "Blue Darling" & "Just A Friend". My live recorded song is getting played overseas these days & is entitled "I'm Gonna Love You Like There's No Tomorrow". Joyce & I have done duets and also Kitty Houston & I have written songs, formed AROK Records, have recorded duets. We have "Back To The Sixties" floating around the world on some websites. I have never met either of these ladies in person. -----I recorded my first phonograph record with America's "The Shadows" in 1960 and I love to see the talent of today flourish on the various websites especially Reverb Nation. I encourage you to drop a line to the artist you are hearing and tell them how much you appreciate them. As I mentioned earlier I have been fortunate to have done duets with Kitty Houston of Del City, Oklahoma and Joyce Ramgatie of Middelburg, Holland. Both have recorded my songs. Others who have recorded my songs are Louisiana Hayride star, Donna Ray; the late Judy Cupit of Saltillo, Arkansas & Dixie Harrison of Mt. Vernon, Arkansas; Linda Harrison Cheek of Conway, Arkansas; Gunnar of Sweden, Doss Tipton of Mayflower, Arkansas, Jane & Lynn Country of California and Keith Kuykendall of Conway, Arkansas. I have had the honor of recording some great songs entitled, "That Old Martin Guitar" and "Once Upon A Memory" written by Ed Gowens; "Midnight Memories" written by Dixie Harrison and "The Little Lambrook Country Church"/"Thinking Of You Thinking Of Me" written by Earl Caldwell. In 1966 I recorded a Duke Stogner song on a 45 phonograph record entitled, "You Made Me Cry". ------My most played song in the phonograph record era was "East Of Tulsa" by The Music Shoppe. We cut the song in Memphis at Bill Black's new studio with Larry Rogers in charge. Larry and Steve were so cooperative and I owe a lot to their knowledge of recording and production. My most played song of the CD age has been "The Real You" which was a double #1 on Soundclick, similar to Reverb Nation but more recently "I'm Gonna Love You Like There's No Tomorrow" is beating the former & has collected near 2,000 spins on Reverb Nation alone. ''The Real You''' was #1 on their 'Country General Chart' and at the same time # 1 on their 'Big Country Chart' totaling over thousands of entries. -----I owe a lot to the legends who have paved the way for us and me personally such as Bob Luman; Ronnie Hawkins; Tollison; The Four Jacks; Sonny Burgess/The Pacers; Jimmy Ford; friends such as Joe Stampley Of The Uniques; Jack Nance, Conway Twitty; Jimmy Newell; J.T. Rice, a friend who inspired me in the 70s when country music really came alive for we independents.
