Roland Zimmerman Family

The Roland Zimmerman Family Musical Ministry is a family ministry from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania that performs bluegrass, old-time country, and folk styles of gospel music. They call their music: “Down Home” Gospel Music. It is their desire that the saints of God would be strengthened and inspired and that sinners would see their need of repentance and salvation in Jesus Christ through this musical ministry. Roland began singing solo with a vocal harmonizer and playing guitar at local retirement homes in 1997 after being healed from vocal chord nodules that had caused him troubles for many years. In 2001, Roland’ s 2 year old son, Ryan, began singing with Roland. Roland’s wife, Rhoda soon joined the group. In 2004, the name of the group was changed to the Roland Zimmerman Family Musical Ministry. Ryan pretended to play a toy guitar at first, then began playing the tambourine. Ryan has learned to play many instruments (and rhythmic objects) throughout the years. Rhoda sang and recited poetry. Her smile and outgoing personality was appreciated by their audiences. In January 2018, Rhoda passed from this life from kidney failure. Roland and Ryan continued the music ministry after Rhoda's death. In 2024, Roland remarried and his wife, Rowena, is now helping with the singing.
