In 1994, Jhelisa released her first solo album Galactica Rush on Dorado Records (which includes her best known song Friendly Pressure), followed two years later by Language Electric. Shortly after issuing records on Dorado, Jhelisa continued to record with a vast array of artists such as Bryan Ferry, Courtney Pine, Massive Attack, Chaka Khan, Da Lata and One Giant Leap. Jhelisa's live concerts have supported the legendary James Brown, Herbie Hancock, The Roots, Michael Franti, Mavis Staples and Roy Ayers. Touring UK/Europe, Africa, Brazil , Australia and Japan. In 2004, Jhelisa moved to New Orleans to focus on recording her fourth album "A Primitive Guide To Being There" for INFRACom! Records based in Germany. While in New Orleans, Jhelisa also recorded SUNDAY N ALGIERS, a Nina Simone tribute project, featuring New Orleans finest musicians. Jhelisa then launched into an international itinerary of concert dates leading up to the Mavis Staples/Jhelisa Tour of the UK 2008.
