Professor and the Madman

Inspired by an eclectic mix of the 60's British invasion, horror and sci-fi movies, the literature of Edgar Allan Poe, and the chaos of the world around them, the four veteran musicians who comprise PROFESSOR AND THE MADMAN are gaining attention in the alt-rock underground. The group's lineup includes co-frontmen/songwriters Alfie Agnew (The Adolescents, D.I.) and Sean Elliott (D.I., Mind Over Four) alongside the legendary rhythm section of drummer Rat Scabies (founding member of The Damned) and bassist Paul Gray (current bassist in The Damned, ex-Eddie & the Hot Rods, UFO). Since Rat and Paul reside in the UK, the studio lineup of PROFESSOR AND THE MADMAN have yet to make their live debut. Instead, PROFESSOR AND THE MADMAN's current live lineup includes Alfie and Sean alongside Orange County musicians Mark Tolbert (guitar and backing vocals), Frank Agnew (bass and backing vocals), and Nick Scalzo (drums). From their histories, you would expect P&TM to be a full-throttle punk band, but while their new music definitely has a strong punk vibe, it also encompasses British Invasion, Britpop, power pop, and even prog, goth and country. The band's third album, "Disintegrate Me," was co-produced by the band and David M. Allen (The Cure, Sisters of Mercy, The Damned). It's released Feb. 23 via FullerTone Records/Alliance Distribution.
