Ocean Valley Boys

After playing to a sell-out crowd at The Fairfield Theater Company in Farifield, CT, in late February 2011, less than two years after their successful debut at the Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival in North Carolina in April 2009, where they won the "Best New Band" contest, beating out 20 bands in the competition, the Ocean Valley Boys (OVB) logged 17 performances on their 2011 "Living Is Expensive" tour, performing from Vermont to North Carolina to Missouri, and followed up with an array of performances all over the map in 2012. OVB is a unique acoustic band that takes the banjo, guitar, mandolin, fiddle and upright bass elements of bluegrass and folk, and combines them with airy vocal harmonies. OVB offers a collection of original tunes by lead singer Mike Hamill, as well as new arrangements of standard folk/roots music, and covers from artists that range from classic Bob Dylan, Grateful Dead, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Neil Young and numerous Irish tunes, to newer material from artists such as Steve Earle & The Del McCoury Band and John Prine. OVB’s exciting new arrangements, featuring tight harmonies and complex acoustic instrumentations, invite the audience to clap their hands,tap their toes, sing along and dance!
