Nickel and Dime Entertainment

In the spring of 2005 two lifeguards working for the city of Oakland (Travis J. Lafferty aka Balliztik and Theodore Mark Strong aka Trademark traxx) were discussing their ideas about how to form an Entertainment company and decided to combine efforts. With the help of Joshua Kirton aka Kirtonz and Carljuan Anderson aka V.I.P. the first signs of Nickel and Dime Entertainment came to life. Their first interests in the industry was recording and producing. After they bought their first studio equipment they recorded with up and coming artists like Kaydah Kev, Domonique J, Apocalypse aka Jungle Boy, D.A.T. and Cliffy Bo. They recorded a number of songs with producers such as Young Bizness, Ridic, C-view, and Wessmugg building their music archives as well as expanding their network, but it was time to take the operation to the next level. In the fall of 2005 they entered in a talent competition called Urban Idol LLC. With the promotion of Urban Idol they were able to get exposure on TV and through the radio. It was during the time Urban Idol was filming when they met and collaborated with many young talents like $krill Gatez, Ras Weedy, Kountree, P.D., and Big Tiff. Unfortunately, shortly before the winner was declared in January of 2006, the owner of Urban Idol LLC packed up and disappeared. The year of 2006 for Nickel and Dime Ent. was developmental. They released an extremely unofficial Mixtape called Bay Area Showcase ’06. They also tried recording at other studios with EF Holla and Boo of Top of the Line Entertainment as well as doing songs with Ike Dola of the Farmboyz, Big Steve, Justo, A-1, Mosstype, and Treal Real. The momentum was starting to pick up. In 2007, Nickel and Dime Ent. hooked up with two new acts; the rap group Getcha Gotcha Click and rapper/producer J-da man. Together they started doing shows with their newly appointed handler on the 1′s and 2′s DJ Kleptic from the Youth Uprising. Their first official show was in Cotati at a bar called the Tradewinds in April. Since then they have performed all over the bay in cities including Hayward, San Francisco, Oakland, Fremont, Berkeley, and even Sacramento. Also, Nickel and Dime Ent. in conjunction with Ike Dola from theFarmboyz and DJ Kleptic released their first official mixtape in the fall of 2007 titled “Dope Illustrated” (In stores now). Currently, Nickel and Dime Ent. operates their business in East Oakland. Right now they are working on two major projects. The first project is Ike Dola’s album “Beast Oakland”. The second project is the Getcha Gotcha Click’s mixtape ”Getcha Gotcha Retards”. After those two Projects drop they are planning to work on J-da man’s mixtape and an Album with Kaydah Kev.
